Our chamber and its members have a proud tradition of raising funds for charities that work at the heart of our community and which make our town a better place for all of us.

We normally do this by selecting a charity for the year – this year we have a different approach by taking the lead in an exciting new charity initiative. Sussex Community Foundation is offering us a unique opportunity to double the impact of our fundraising and build a ‘Worthing & Adur Fund’ - a permanent charitable fund to support not just one, but a whole variety of charities and community groups in Worthing and Adur.

Local charities face a constant struggle to raise the funds they need to serve their community – in these tough economic times this is even more difficult.

Businesses are having to cut their costs too – and that can impact on their ability to support charitable causes as much as they would like.

By working with Sussex Community Foundation, we can help keep and build on that vital channel of funding and support between local business and local community for now and for the future. 

Until March 2011, Sussex Community Foundation will match every £1 that we raise with a further £1 from Government.  If we can raise £100,000 in the next two years, our local fund would be worth £200,000 – and, by using the interest generated by that permanent fund, we can make significant grants to our community in Worthing and in Adur for generations to come.
