We are looking for a Breaktimes Support Assistant to join us and become part of our successful team, giving the very best support to our community every day, because at Oak Grove College ‘everyone matters, every day counts’. Job Title: Breaktimes Support Assistant
Contract: 15 hours per week (10.30am – 1.30pm)but less hours also considered (11.30am – 1.30pm / 12.30pm – 1.30pm)
Term time only (38 weeks + 5.4 weeks holiday pay per year) + some inset days paid as overtime
Temporary until July 2025 with potential to extend
Pay Scale: Grade 3; Points 3-4; £12.45 – £12.65 per hour;
Hours: Monday to Friday, 10.30am – 1.30pm / 11.30 – 1.30pm / 12.30 – 1.30pm
Start Date: ASAP
Breaktimes Support Assistants form an important part of our staff team, enhancing the lunchtime experience for our students to ensure that the social development of all is promoted, alongside a positive attitude to a healthy lifestyle.
We are looking for individuals with some of the following skills, knowledge and experience:
· Ability to supervise students during playtime, both indoor and outdoor
· Ability and experience leading and running playground games and activities
· Ability to engage with students and promote their social development and self esteem
· Experience in supporting students giving careful attention to safety and well-being and actively encouraging play
· Understanding of behaviour issues and strategies to manage them
· Capacity to work flexibly across range of student settings
· Effective team working
· Fluency in English
· Play / Sports leaders qualification
· Ability to work with staff to support with Manual Handling issues
A programme of support and training will be offered. Attendance on some training days would be required. Prior experience with students with complex learning needs is preferred but not essential as a programme of support and training will be offered.
Applicants who are invited to interview will also be observed working with students.
