The importance of robust credit control and debt recovery

Who is it for: All SME's and start-up businesses, particularly businesses supplying goods or services with a credit facility (i.e transaction where upfront or immediate payment is not made.

Who is it by: 

Simon Marks of Marks Recoveries & Legal Services.

Simon is a lawyer by profession and is the Managing Director of a business specialising in providing credit control and debt recovery solutions to a wide range of clients throughout the UK. Simon has been heaviliy into debt for over 25 years and has recovered well in excess of £250 million over those years for his business clients. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM) and the Association of British Investigators (ABI)

Course details: The workshop is designed to provide guidelines and practical tips for anyone managing a business's finances or is responsible for credit risk management within an organisation. Content will include:

  • What is credit control?
  • Why is credit control so important?
  • How well do you really know your customer?
  • Getting the right balance between sales and credit control
  • Getting T's & C's in place
  • Designing a credit control process for your business
  • Knowing what to do when an account falls into arrears

What will I get out of it? This hands-on and interactive workshop will provide attendees with the knowledge and confidence to be able to make really sound and important decisions when looking to offer a credit facility to existing customers and potential new customers. Business owners will be able to increase their sales knowing that they have done everything within their control to mitigate against the inherent risk of bad debt.
