New mental health support service launched in West Sussex

Pathfinder West Sussex is a new community mental health service, providing free mental health and wellbeing support to people across West Sussex.

The service was commissioned by NHS Sussex and is being led by BHT Sussex, working in partnership with West Sussex Mind, replacing the previous Pathfinder Alliance arrangements for the county.

The new contract brings on board new partners from the homelessness sector and offers comprehensive, co-produced community mental health support for anyone over 18.

Pathfinder West Sussex offers adults:

  • Information, advice and guidance through a single helpline
  • One-to-one and group support sessions
  • Peer support from people with lived experience of mental health
  • Community activities to increase confidence and create connection
  • Physical health interventions
  • Homelessness support
  • Employment support.

The service brings together a number of trusted organisations to provide integrated support and works closely with the local NHS and GP surgeries, making it easier to get information, find support or get specialist advice.

West Sussex Mind’s CEO, Kerrin Page, said: “We’re excited to launch this new chapter for Pathfinder West Sussex, bringing together local organisations to improve the wellbeing of people across the county and help people get the right support when they need it. We want to ensure that there is no wrong ‘front door’ to mental health support and that everyone in our community can be guided to the support that's right for them, regardless of where they reach out for help.”
