Here are Jane Hames's tips for clearing the decks and feeling ready to head off on a well deserved Christmas break.
Sort out your Outlook inbox:
1. Shift and Delete on the keyboard permanently deletes the selected emails (bypassing the deleted items/trash folder).
2. Empty your deleted items/trash folder. Right click on the deleted items or the trash folder and click on Empty Folder.

3. Apply a flag to messages that will be dealt with at a later date. Just click on the flag symbol next to the message.

4. In the new year, find flagged messages easily by clicking on the Filter Email button and selecting Flagged.
Prepare a list of tasks to be carried over into 2017:
Try using Microsoft OneNote - you create notebooks with sections and pages. It's great for to do lists.

Or, make use of the Task lists option in Outlook and set yourself reminders. You can even assign tasks to other people!

Free up some space:
Clear space on your computer by emptying the Recycle Bin. Right click on the Recycle Bin on your desktop, and click Empty Recycle Bin.

It's your last day in the office before Christmas and you're ready to run:
Use ALT and F4 to quickly close down programmes!
