Teaching Assistant (Complex Needs) Oak Grove College – A wonderful place to work Oak Grove College is a community generic special school providing special education for 268 students with learning difficulties from Year 7 to Year 14. We are part of the Thrive Federation of Schools which also includes Palatine Primary School, Herons Dale School and Cornfield School. We are currently recruiting for additional Teaching Assistants. Teaching Assistants form an important part of our staff team, working together to support pupils with their learning. We are looking for individuals with some of the following skills, knowledge and experience: able to employ a wide variety of communication strategies Prior experience with students with complex learning needs is preferred. We are currently recruiting for an additional Cover Supervisor to work Monday to Wednesday but would also consider a full-time position. Our Cover Supervisors form an important part of our staff team, supporting students and colleagues to give the highest quality holistic support to our young people. Cover Supervisors work across all areas in our Secondary School for students with a variety of Special Educational Needs. The post is to provide quality lesson cover for absent teachers and to support the effective and efficient running of the college. Experience of working with students with learning difficulties is essential. The individual appointed would have excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to use their initiative and be able to work effectively in a team. They must also have significant experience of working alongside learners with complex special educational needs. Applicants must be qualified to A-level or equivalent and have a C or higher in English and Maths at GCSE.
