    We are currently recruiting for an additional Pastoral Officer.  Our Pastoral Officers form an important part of our staff team, supporting students and colleagues to give the highest quality holistic support to our young people.  

    We are looking for individuals with some of the following skills, knowledge and/or experience:

    ·         able to establish effective relationships with parents/carers, students and outside agencies

    ·         experienced in supporting students to access learning, and producing behaviour and intervention plans

    ·         experienced in supporting people with mental health issues

    ·         experienced in supporting people with social and emotional barriers to learning

    ·         able to engage and motivate young people

    ·         ability to supervise young people to ensure their safety and positive behaviour

    ·         flexibility to work across both sites

    ·         excellent organisational skills

    ·         to be part of the Duty Team rota

    ·         to support students in using IT/social media effectively and be the key colleague to lead on this

    Job Description

    Job Title:                 Pastoral Officer

    Responsible to:            Lead Pastoral Officer

    Purpose of the Role

    To work with other staff as part of a professional team to provide the highest quality holistic support to our students who need help to overcome barriers to learning. Students may have a range of moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and/or behaviour, social, communication, sensory or physical difficulties.  Providing timely support and advice to colleagues is also a key operational part of the role.

    The post holder will provide support to the College in a range of duties.   This is an outline of the job role which includes but is not limited to:

    To uphold college policies and procedures and keep safeguarding of students at the centre of all you do.
    Take a part in the Duty Team rota
    To accurately record duty incidents on CPOMS and follow through with them in conjunction with other staff
    To use CPOMS (and other MIS software) highly effectively
    To be able to identify patterns, review behaviour records, identify trends and suggest ideas to support individuals as part of the Pastoral Tea
    To uphold the values of the PRICE approach to behaviour management (training provided)
    Develop positive relationships with parents/families to ensure highly effective engagement and communication with the College
    To support attendance processes as appropriate, which could include recording attendance, lateness and calling home.
    Ensure students are recognised and rewarded for success.
    Take part in lunchtime duties to ensure the safe operation of the college.
    Support students requiring additional temporary support in class to access learning and produce behaviour plans and intervention plans to support students.
    To lead on individual and small group intervention in relation to developing social and emotional skills
    To attend meetings with external agencies and represent the college sharing information where appropriate.
    To follow through and check on student and staff welfare after behaviour incidents.
    To supervise students’ arrival and departure to and from College to ensure safe transitions
    To offer support and training to staff.
    To lead post incident reflection meetings with staff teams/colleagues to reflect on how we are supporting students
    To be able to reflect on own practice and undertake any
    To be a Mental Health First Aider for students.
    To support students with the safe and effective use of social media and IT
    Any other reasonable direction from the Headteacher.

    The content and reporting lines may, in consultation with the employee, be reviewed because duties change over time, and the job description needs to reflect these changes.

    About the Role:

    We are looking for an ambitious, energetic Corporate Partnerships Officer to drive income growth through strategic corporate fundraising activities. Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, you’ll play a vital role in building partnerships that support Guild Care’s mission to reduce social isolation and stigma for older people, those living with dementia, and people with learning disabilities. You’ll be responsible for securing financial support, in-kind donations, and valuable collaboration opportunities that align with the charity's goals.

    What Kind of Person Are We Looking For?

    Essential Candidate Criteria:

    • Proven experience in corporate partnerships, business development, or fundraising, ideally within a charity or non-profit.
    • Strong relationship management skills and ability to engage and inspire partners at all levels.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience preparing compelling proposals.
    • Demonstrated ability to meet fundraising or revenue targets.
    • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
    • Knowledge of corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices and trends.

    Desirable Candidate Criteria:

    • Experience managing corporate fundraising events or campaigns.
    • Familiarity with CRM systems for donor/partner management.

    Overview

    Esteem works with young adults aged 14 - 26 to build lasting self-Esteem and stronger communities through group activities and 1-2-1 support.

    Esteem works with over 200 young adults annually across all of Sussex who face barriers to achieving their life goals. We have a base in Shoreham and offer a variety of different opportunities, including social drop-in sessions, mentoring, wellbeing sessions, volunteering and counselling. We have a dedicated staff team with various backgrounds and a commitment to championing the views of young adults throughout the organisation.

    This is an exciting opportunity to volunteer for a charity that is passionate about giving young adults the chance to develop their skills and confidence, both for their own benefit and for that of society as a whole. Esteem works with young adults to run Wellbeing, Social, Mentoring and Volunteering opportunities, with a youth-led and asset-based approach.

    This voluntary role of Trustee Safeguarding Lead is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the effective implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures within Esteem. The role requires a commitment to protecting the welfare of all beneficiaries, volunteers, and staff, ensuring that the organisation meets its legal and moral obligations to safeguard vulnerable individuals.

    As part of the Board of Trustees you will be jointly and severally responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, the probity of its activities and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines. All trustees should also be aware of, and understand, their individual and collective responsibilities, and should not be overly reliant on one or more individual trustees in any particular aspect of the governance of the charity.

    Individuals are sought who have a strong empathy with Esteem’s goal of enabling young adults to flourish. The Trustee Safeguarding Lead will be expected to contribute around 6 hours per month to the organisation, including board meetings, which run for two hours every two months, from 6-8pm at The Old School House, Shoreham. A minimum commitment of two years would be preferable. This post requires some flexibility due to the nature of Esteem being a growing organisation.

    Your regular tasks and responsibilities will include:

    ●     Attend Board meetings on Tuesday evenings every 8 weeks at Esteem, from 6-8pm

    ●     Read meeting minutes and pre-reading documents ahead of meeting (sent at least 1 week before the meeting)

    ●     Contribute to all aspects of Esteems Strategy and maintain oversight of the organisation

    ●     Provide strategic oversight and guidance on all safeguarding matters at governance level

    ●     Ensure safeguarding is embedded in the organisation’s culture, practices, and decision-making processes

    ●     Develop, review, and update safeguarding policies and procedures to comply with legal requirements and best practices

    ●     Ensure that these policies are effectively communicated and implemented across the organisation

    ●     Promote awareness and understanding of safeguarding policies among trustees

    ●     Ensure that appropriate safeguarding training programs are developed and delivered regularly

    ●     Monitor compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures

    ●     Ensure that safeguarding incidents are appropriately recorded, investigated, and reported

    ●     Work alongside the DSL to report on safeguarding issues to the board of trustee, highlighting any risks or areas for improvement

    ●     Work with DSL to prepare and present regular safeguarding reports and updates to the board

    ●     Keep abreast of developments in safeguarding legislation, guidance, and best practices

    ●     Recommend improvements to safeguarding policies and practices

    Person Specification

    Essential:

    ●     Experience in a safeguarding role within a similar organisation or setting

    ●     Knowledge of UK safeguarding legislation, guidance, and best practices

    ●     Strong understanding of the safeguarding needs of vulnerable individuals

    ●     Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    ●     Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently

    This voluntary role of Trustee & Secretary will include duties such as organising and minuting board meetings and some administrative duties to support the board.  As well as the normal duties of a trustee (see The Essential Trustee Duties) The main aim is for the Trustee Secretary to support the Chair and the CO in ensuring the smooth functioning of the board of trustees. This would also compliment other areas we seek to enhance the trustee team, which include a wide range of skills, and expertise in youth work, strategy planning, business development, financial administration and fundraising, as well as an interest in vocational and personal development for young people, combined with an in-depth understanding of our work and ambitions. 

    You will be jointly and severally responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, the probity of its activities and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.
