About the Chamber

We’re here to help local businesses thrive - simple as that.

Worthing & Adur Chamber of Commerce is a friendly, proactive community where businesses of all sizes come together to learn, connect  and grow. If you’re building a business in Worthing, Adur or the surrounding areas, we’re here to support you at every step. Our members range from sole traders and start-ups to established companies and major employers. What do they all have in common? The drive to grow and a community that helps them do it.

The Chamber was established in 1920 to fight for local business interests both locally and nationally and has since supported thousands of local businesses and continues to do so.

Our Team

We're a down to earth team who care about the area and the people building businesses in it. We're connectors, problem solvers and cheerleaders, commited to building a business community that feels supportive, inclusive and full of opportunity.

Exec Committee
The Executive Committee is sworn in each year at the AGM. Each Executive Committee Member has their own specialist area to oversee. The Executive Committee sets the strategic direction of the Chamber and supports the Chamber Staff. The Executive Committee are active members of the local business community and champion the purpose of the Chamber, representing local business strategically on local and national levels.
Ambassadors
The Chamber Ambassadors are a group of volunteers, they are all long standing members of the Chamber who have gone over and above to support fellow members, promote the values of the Chamber and be part of the Chamber's extended team. They are invited to become an Ambassador in recognition of their dedication to the Chamber. Their primary focus is to be of assistance to Chamber members, whether new, longer term or thinking of joining.

Our Mission

Our mission is to represent, support, connect and collaborate; continuing to develop a thriving business community that benefits and represents all members.

  • Collaboration: We believe businesses are stronger together. We connect businesses, partners and stakeholders to share knowledge, unlock opportunities and create a thriving local economy
  • Forward Thinking: We champion innovation, sustainability and long term thinking. We support businesses to adapt, grow responsibly and embed ESG principles that strenthen both individual organisations and the local economy.

Chamber History

In 2013, The Worthing & Adur Chamber Team embarked on a project to research the history of the Chamber, kindly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. This project is a legacy of Roy Bishop, who was a past Chamber president and was actively involved in the Chamber for 63 years, Roy had been collecting archive materials for a number of a years, this information was the basis of the project. A video was created to support this project.
