Youth Jobs Grant Opens to Employers Across Great Britain

Employers across Great Britain can now access funding through the Government's new Youth Jobs Grant, designed to encourage the recruitment and training of young people aged 18 to 24 who are struggling to enter the workforce. The scheme launched on 30 June 2026 and will remain open to new participants until October 2028. The grant provides employers with up to £3,000 per eligible recruit who successfully achieves a qualifying job outcome. Payments are made in stages, with £1,800 available after six weeks and a further £1,200 after 18 weeks, subject to earnings verification through HM Revenue & Customs. 

The initiative forms part of the Government's Youth Guarantee and aims to create up to 60,000 job opportunities over the next three years, helping young people gain valuable workplace experience, develop new skills, and progress towards sustained employment.

To qualify, employers must be actively trading and have a minimum trading history of six months. The grant applies when an employer recruits a young person aged 18 to 24 who has been claiming Universal Credit and out of work for at least six months, into a role that meets the scheme's requirements. Applications are assessed by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) before employers can participate. 

The scheme is open to employers of all sizes and sectors, making it an opportunity for businesses to strengthen their workforce while supporting young people to build their careers. Successful applicants only need to complete the full employer application process once, after which additional vacancies can be submitted without reapplying.
