Business backs Street Velodrome 2016

03 February 2016 1:12 PM | Deleted user

Businesses are being invited to become part of the Street Velodrome 2016 action when it returns with all of its muscle-pounding, stop-clock-racing glory to Beach House Grounds across the first weekend of July 2016.

Exploding onto the Worthing scene in 2015, Street Velodrome proved that Worthing has the appetite - and the crowds - to make innovative new events a success.  With over 10,000 people attending per day, and the event being screened to 600,000 UK households (plus being exported to over 180 countries), it’s returning to the town on a firm footing for 2016.

At an exciting sponsorship launch evening held on Thursday 21st January at Coast Cafe, local entrepreneurs and organisations got a first look at the range of sponsorship opportunities on offer for Street Velodrome 2016.  From trade stalls in the event village through to main event branding opportunities, businesses of all sizes can get a slice of the action and put their message in front of the crowds.

Daniel Humphreys, Leader of Worthing Borough Council, spoke at the launch event.  He said:

“I am delighted that Worthing will be hosting the Street Velodrome again this year after the great success of the event in 2015.

“Last year, we proved beyond a doubt that Worthing has the appetite for new, innovative and unique events which draw people into the town from across the South Coast.  The 2016 Street Velodrome is going to be another chance to show off everything that makes Worthing a great place to live, to work and to invest.”

Jo Osborne, Events and Tourism Manager for Adur & Worthing Councils, adds:

“I’m really grateful to local businesses Coast Cafe and Baked for getting behind the sponsorship launch event.  We have had exceptionally positive feedback from last year’s sponsors who gained real value from the weekend and, by extending the event to three days this year, we’re offering even more opportunities to get involved and grow business’ exposure.

“With interest in cycling soaring, this is a perfect opportunity for local businesses to be part of an innovative community event.”

The sponsors launch evening also debuted a short film produced after last year’s event which captures the excitement as it unfolded, giving potential sponsors a taste of what they can expect from this year’s expanded event.  The film can be seen on the Council’s website: http://www.adur-worthing.gov.uk/news/pr16-012.html

Sponsorship opportunities are strictly limited to ensure that the businesses involved get the best return on their investment - details can be found in the sponsorship pack or by contacting Lucie Gleeson directly (lucie.gleeson@adur-worthing.gov.uk).
