    WORTHING WORLD RECORD BREAKING ATTEMPT

Worthing’s award-winning beauty salon and skin clinic, Euphoric, is celebrating its 10th year in business in 2013 and to mark the event, will be hosting a world record breaking attempt for the greatest number of people painting their nails at the same time. This will take place on Saturday 26th October at Worthing Pier and everyone is invited!

The current Guinness World Record is held by Taiwan with 1,156 people who took part in their event in 2011. Euphoric hopes to beat this and is looking for more than 1,200 to turn up on the day.

The attempt will be held in the afternoon and participants are asked to go to the main Pier entrance from 1.30-2.30pm latest. The attempt will take place at 2.45pm when everyone will paint their nails for at least five minutes or have five nails painted. Participants are asked to bring along their own nail polish but everyone will receive a certificate of participation along with a voucher for a free manicure or pedicure at Euphoric in the following six months as a thank you for joining in.

The Mayor of Worthing, Councillor Bob Smytherman, will be on hand to verify the authenticity of the event. There will be an entry charge of £1 per participant with every penny going to Breast Cancer Care (as this month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month) and Worthing’s own Guild Care, which looks after older people with dementia and Alzheimer’s, one of the Mayor’s Charities this year.

Zoe Clark, owner of Euphoric, said, “What bigger way to celebrate our 10th birthday year than attempting a world record?! Now all we need is for the residents of Worthing and beyond to get behind us and take part in this fun event and support two very worthwhile charities. After all, it’s something to tell the grandchildren in the future, isn’t it?!”

To take part in the event, email euphoricchallenge@gmail.com to confirm you’ll be there. There’s no age limit so it’s open to everyone.

Euphoric is based in South Farm Road, Worthing. Priding itself on offering the latest cutting edge treatments and products, the salon specialises in skin care from within as well as through topical products, and holds regular skin analysis events. Euphoric was the first in the area to offer many international brands, products and treatments, now being copied in other salons.

For information on Euphoric’s products and treatments, see www.euphoric-beauty.co.uk

BilliBusiness Lunch Club will be meeting from 12.30pm until 2pm in the Thai Cuisine, located in Jengers Mead.
Email secretary@billingshurstchamber.co.uk and book your place now!

The purpose of the BilliBusiness Lunch Club is to be a business referral forum rather than a “talking shop” gathering, and each month one member will be invited to give a presentation of their particular business lasting 5-10 minutes.

We ask that a fixed cost of £10 for the set lunch menu and one drink is payable on the day, with any profits being forwarded on to our chosen charity of the year; The Dame Vera Lynn Trust. Further drinks will be available at your own discretion although jugs of water will be provided on each table.

This is a great opportunity to meet and mix with other local business people in an informal and social setting, whilst building upon your contact list for local businesses.
To confirm your attendance, in order to advise the restaurant of numbers in advance, we would appreciate you contacting the Chamber's Secretary on
    07984 959281 or by emailing secretary@billingshurstchamber.co.uk

The BilliBusiness Lunch Club is free for Billingshurst Chamber members but there will be a charge of £2 for each non-member to attend.

    MP congratulates local business

A business in Worthing has been recognised as a leading local business by being shortlisted in a Newspaper Society competition. The Local Business Accelerators competition is looking for the most promising small businesses in the country, with a national winner being announced in October.

MP for Worthing, Tim Loughton said, “I am delighted to see the success of Green Fish Recruitment. Small businesses play a vital role in our economy and in local communities. I very much hope that the Local Business Accelerators competition and the accomplishments of Green Fish Recruitment will help to inspire other people to start their own business in Worthing or to grow one they are running already.

“The competition is supported by Business in You, and I would like to remind other local businesses that the Business in You website (www.businessinyou.bis.gov.uk) contains a range of practical information and directions to other sources of help. Particularly when you are starting out in business, seeking out and acting on advice is key to success.”

Business Minister Michael Fallon said, “The Government is committed to helping small businesses get on and succeed so they can continue to contribute to the growth we need. We want businesses to take advantage of the wealth of information and support that is available to them through Business in You so they can take the necessary steps towards securing themselves a bright future. Through the LBA competition these successful local businesses will set a great example to their peers.”

The competition’s winner will receive a year's mentoring from Dragon’s Den star Deborah Meaden and other prizes including free advertising in their local newspaper, £10,000 from the Business Growth Fund, a year's membership of the CBI, business advice from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, broadband and a website from BT, and an iPad and a year’s access to software from Freeagent.
