Get your staff active with the Small Grants Scheme

    (Sussex Businesses only)
Open for applications on the 5th September 2011

Active Solutions manages the Active & Healthy Workplace Initiative on behalf of Active Sussex.  This year Active Sussex has teamed up with Brighton & Hove’s Healthy City Partnership to offer companies and organisations in Sussex the chance to bid for up to £500 to activate their staff.

Active Sussex is pleased to announce that its Active & Healthy Workplace fund is re-opening for applications.

The fund gives businesses and organisations throughout Sussex the opportunity to trial programmes that boost the health and wellbeing of their staff.  With a maximum of £500 per organisation up for grabs to help run a scheme, there’s never been a better time to get active and healthy at work. The fund opens for applications on Monday 5 September 2011.

Click here for more information or contact Donna Imrie- Browne to request an application form.

Please read the guidance notes fully below before completing the application form. If you have any questions please contact Donna Imrie-Browne.

The deadline for applications is Friday 30 September 2011.

Earlier this year a new business partnership was formed, bringing together the Adur Economic Partnership and the Worthing Economic Development and Regeneration Partnership. The Adur and Worthing Business Partnership brings together key businesses, colleges and groups such as the Worthing and Adur Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Small Businesses.

In its first year this partnership is being led by Andrew Swayne of Ricardo, with the next Partnership meeting being charged with establishing its delivery plan for the coming year. This partnership will provide key support for business and education and play an important role in achieving the objectives set out in the Sustainable Community Strategy – Waves Ahead.

Economic Development has recently sent out a business questionnaire to all business addresses in Adur. This questionnaire is an opportunity for your company to inform the Council of the key issues currently affecting your business.

Over the last few years the Council has consulted Worthing businesses to identify their issues, and we now would like to do the same work in Adur. The information provided will help build a picture of business issues across the area and will be incorporated into a joint action plan for Adur and Worthing.

This is an opportunity to have your say and we would be grateful if you could please take the time to complete the questionnaire and return it in the pre-paid envelope provided, by the 22nd April 2011.  The questionnaire is also available to download on our website at, or paper copies are available from Adur Civic Centre reception in Ham Road, Shoreham.

If you require further information regarding the questionnaire, please contact the Economic Development on 01273 263147 or email

The Worthing Town Centre Initiative will be taking over the Civic Centre Car Park from 1st April 2011.  From this date the charge for parking on a Saturday will drop from £1.60 per hour to 50p per hour (for a maximum stay of 4 hours). This Car Park will continue to offer free parking to the public after 4pm weekdays and on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Let your customers know that they can park for 4 hours for just £2 just a few minutes' walk away from the pedestrian precinct.  There are 180 spaces in this Car Park and we are hoping that by offering more parking for less money that shoppers will take the opportunity to visit more businesses and spend more time in town.

The Worthing Town Centre Initiative will be starting a publicity campaign to let shoppers know the good news!!!
